Cursor
Connect Cursor to MemPalace Cloud in two steps: add the MCP server config, then paste the memory rules.
Cursor doesn't support plugins or hooks the way Claude Code does, so the memory protocol lives in User Rules. You copy it once, and Cursor follows it every session across Chat, Compose, and Inline.
Prerequisites
- A MemPalace Cloud account (free tier works)
- Cursor installed
Installation
Step 1: Add the MCP server
Open Cursor Settings → MCP Servers → Add new and enter:
{
"mcpServers": {
"mempalace-cloud": {
"url": "https://api.mempalace.cloud/mcp"
}
}
}
Cursor should show a green dot next to mempalace-cloud once connected. On first connection, a browser opens for OAuth login.
Step 2: Paste the memory rules
The full instruction block is hosted at:
https://mempalace.cloud/skill-packs/cursor-rules.md
Copy its content and paste it into:
Cursor Settings → Rules → User Rules
Use User Rules, not project-level .cursorrules — User Rules get the broadest coverage across Compose, Chat, and Inline.
The hosted block is kept in sync with the plugin (currently v1.2.0) and includes:
- Discovery First — Cursor reads the palace structure before writing
- Palace Structure — how memories are organized into wings, rooms, and drawers
- Save Decision Flow — a three-question flow to prevent flat dumps
- Anti-patterns — no silent creation, no generic dumps
Verification
Open the Cursor chat panel and ask:
"What do you know about my preferences?"
Cursor should call mempalace_list_wings first (discovery), then mempalace_search before answering — you'll see the tool invocation in the chat.
Updates
When the plugin version bumps (e.g., v1.2.0 → v1.3.0), re-copy the hosted block into your User Rules to stay current. There is no automatic update path for pasted rules.
Troubleshooting
MCP server shows a red dot
Verify the URL is correct. Try https://api.mempalace.cloud/healthz in your browser — it should return {"status":"ok"}.
Cursor's Compose mode ignores the rules
Compose may not respect User Rules in all versions. Put the memory protocol in User Rules (not project-level .cursorrules) for the broadest coverage.
Memories captured but don't show up New memories land in your Inbox first. Items auto-approve after 24 hours if you don't review them.
