Connect Claude.ai to MemPalace Cloud in three steps: add a custom connector, create a Project, then paste the memory instructions.

Claude.ai supports custom MCP connectors on all plans. Free accounts are limited to 1 connector.

Prerequisites

Installation

Step 1: Add the MCP connector

Open Claude.ai → Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector and enter:

  • URL: https://api.mempalace.cloud/mcp

A browser window opens for OAuth login — sign in with your MemPalace Cloud account.

Step 2: Create a Project with memory instructions

Create a new Project (or open an existing one). Go to Project Instructions and paste the memory protocol.

The full instruction block is hosted at:

Copy its content and paste it into the Project Instructions field.

The hosted block is kept in sync with the plugin (currently v1.3.0) and includes:

  • Discovery First — Claude reads the palace structure before writing
  • Palace Structure — how memories are organized into wings, rooms, and drawers
  • Save Decision Flow — a three-question flow to prevent flat dumps
  • Anti-patterns — no silent creation, no generic dumps

Verification

Inside the Project, start a new conversation and ask:

"What do you know about my preferences?"

Claude should call mempalace_list_wings first (discovery), then mempalace_search before answering.

Updates

When the skill pack version bumps (e.g., v1.3.0 → v1.4.0), re-copy the hosted block into your Project Instructions to stay current.

Troubleshooting

Custom connector option not visible Open Customize (gear icon) → Connectors. If you don't see "Add custom connector", try scrolling to the bottom of the connectors list.

Free plan connector limit Free accounts are limited to 1 custom connector. If you already have one, remove it or upgrade to Pro.

Connector shows an error Verify the URL is correct: https://api.mempalace.cloud/mcp. Try https://api.mempalace.cloud/healthz in your browser — it should return {"status":"ok"}.

Memories captured but don't show up New memories land in your Inbox first. Items auto-approve after 24 hours if you don't review them.

Memory only works inside the Project Project Instructions are scoped to that Project. Conversations outside the Project won't use the memory protocol. Create all memory-enabled conversations inside the Project.
